"I recently bought a boat with a Johnson 60 VRO motor. Can anyone give me ANY history on this type of motor, when were they made, any inherent downfalls?

"Jay, The Vro model 60 hp was

"Jay, The Vro model 60 hp was made between about 1984-2000 as a 3 cylinder in-line. No substantial downfalls. Some of the earlier models were a little finniky during cold starting. They ran well, performed well, and had good longevity.

The engine block is essentially the same as the 55 hp Evinrude Triumph invented in the '60s. That was the first loop-charged marine powerhead built."
