G'day fellow boaties,
Just purchased a Johnson VRO 60hp 1986 model. Engine stalls shortly after starting, revs hard once started (with start throttle lever up). Pushing key makes sound (assuming choke solenoid engaging), but no mater what I do with choke/throttle cant keep her running. New plugs. sprayed carbie cleaner into throttle body. Fuel filter ok. May have been guilty of over priming oil bulb...oil in carbies? Whats the best way to check for sufficient fuel pressure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers...Rob

We need some history on your engine, Serial #, How long has engine been sitting, Was fuel tank dumped of old gas, flushed, new gas and oil installed, Carb could be gummed up,along with entire fuel system, hoses, pump, tank. Try pumping primer bulb to simulate fuel pump while engine is running. Have you run a compression test on engine yet? should have been done before purchase. Second,Try an open air gap spark test, It should be a lightning blue snap and audible

Just purchased ?--------------I would start with a compression test.----------If that is good are you pushing key in while cranking it over and pushing key as needed till it warms a bit ?
