Johnson 55hp (1980) new wiring question

I have a Johnson 55HP from 1980 (engine model 55EL80C).

Its about to go into the water and I decided to finally replace all the wiring (was corroded and causing quite a lot of start up issues).

I bought a replacement part (not original, but was extremely hard to find originals in Sweden).

Swapped everything over and all worked fine and started up without any issues but this was concerning me a bit that the new part didnt have this "black thing" seen below (sorry for the lack of technical word here!).

Does anyone happen to know what said "black thing" is and what its purpose is, and if I'm ok without it? (seems to run fine but thought it better to check!)

Heres the original and "black thing"...

Heres my new cables missing the "black thing" and instead just seems to connect direct with 2 cables.

Thanks ahead.

The little black thing holds a 20 ampere fuse.----It is about 15 / 16 mm long.

Thanks very much for the info.

On the aftermarket part i bought it came with a fuse but not in the same position on the circuit, it was located here instead:

Do you have any ideas if thats OK to keep it like this? Is there any problem/risks not having the fuse in the original position but here instead?...
