Johnson 50 hp intermittant starting

I have a 1994 50 hp tiller model that's tempermental when it comes to starting. I've had it in the
shop (3.1 hrs @ a hundred bks an hr) and they said they adjusted the linkage, and checked the
start button and kill switch. I let it sit for a few days, and went to start it and....nothing. After fiddling with
it for awhile, it started. When it does start, it runs like a champ.
 
Is it manual start or electric start ?-----------And what is your exact starting procedure.--------Post the steps you take to start this motor.

What seems to be intermittent is the start button. If I move the shifter in and out of gear and try the button, occasionally
I get nothing. I have a kill switch on the tiller as well. Today had the boat out on the water and everything worked great.
 
Make sure all of your battery cable connections are good, clean and tight. You could also have a bad starter switch.
