johnson 35hp pull start problems running old engine

Ive had this engine for about six months i so i know nothing about it i ran it up yesterday it pull over second time and seemed to run fine then when i throttled up and de throttled it died then after a couple of pulls it runs ok again but throttling up same thing could anyone help .

all i can see on the engine model number is BA79A i cant make out the first bit or the serial number the plugs are BR7HS one sold to me by farewaether marine when i took the engine down there to get plugs for it ill ring them and ask sorry im a novice at this just starting out.
