Johnson 35 seahorse 1977 timing

Hi all
I have a 1977 johnson 35hp pull start.
Last time I used it, it sounded rough when first started but came good under power. After being stopped for 3 hours fishing it wouldn't start.
Got towed home & found it had no spark on either cylinder.
I replace the power pac & both coils. It started & ran for 5 mins with the occasional miss fire. After stopping it would not start again so I replaced the charge coil & sensor under the flywheel. Now it wont start at all & occasionally back fires.
I have a spark on both plugs but notice number 1 plug seems to spark at least 90 degrees early, although this isn't easy to achieve by turning the flywheel by hand.
Number 1 plug spark is not as far out as 180 degrees so the coils can't be connected the opposite way around. I can't see how the timing has moved as the stator plate can't move that far. I've checked the keyway is good & that the flywheel is located correctly. The magnets are all in place on the underside of the flywheel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
 
The timing on this motor has to be done in the water with it in gear and the rpm at 3500 the WOT timing has to be set 1st at 30 degrees whith a timing light when it comes back to the idle position the cam and butterfly must be set so that the throttle just just starts to open .they do not specify a few degrees before TDC or firing on TDC on this motor at idle.it just mentions to do the WOT timing 1st
 
Maybe the stator/exciter was bad and damaged your new pack. Seen it happen. The trigger/timer can catch h##! from the other components too. Before you replaced the pack, did you check the trigger/timer and exciter? Huh? It is quite easy. Anyone that is willing to spend the money you just did on electrical components, should really have a DVA multimeter. Don't take offense, but these parts are not cheap as you know. Electronic Specialties makes an economy one for 50 bucks. Mine is one step up at about 130 bucks.........15 years ago. Still works fine. Just don't put power to it on the wrong scale.
