Johnson 30hp conking out full throttle

hi thanx to all who helped wit

hi thanx to all who helped with faults with this engine it now has another fault on full throttle it cuts out. once i pump primer bulb again it runs ok could it be the primer bulb or something else i tried another fuel line /bulb still the same any ideas

hi thanx for you responce the outboard tickes over ok and runs fine on half throttle just full throttle is there anyway i can clean carb without stripping it down as i am not keen on tampering with it

"My engine did the same thing until I changed the fuel filter. Before you start tearing stuff apart - make sure the carb is getting fuel.

If I pumped the primer ball while at WOT every 8-10 seconds, the carb would not run out of fuel and the engine would run great.

Now that I changed the fuel filter, the FP can pump the needed fuel at WOT without me squeezing the primer ball as described to keep the engine running while at WOT.

Mind you my engine is a 1954 10hp (with fuel pump), so there may be some differences. But a clogged filter is a clogged filter."

top man i will try that i spoke to the johnson dealer and he said that it was carb blocked jet or filter i do not want to attempt to strip the carb as i know nothing about it and to put it into the shop i would cost a fortune but i will try the filter

"Ian, I am always sceptical of the fuel tanks whenever I see this problem. Not knowing the condition of your system, Just note that I have found loose pickup tubes in the tanks and that causes the motor to draw air. That will mess up things with engine performance.
Also, the float level could possibly be low. That will cause problems because there is not enough fuel in the bowl to sustain higher RPMs.."

"hi piperjak yes i was the same, first thing i thought of, so i changed tanks it was full to the brim with fuel and connections felt tight
has the valve on top of the tank to be fully open or not, sounds daft but i am willing to try anything
