Johnson 28 hp coils

are the johnson coils grounded to the block through the mounting bolts. there are washers with some kind of coating on them between the metal tabs on coil and the block. Ihave several questions on the forum trying to get this old motor going, Thanks for all the help

if I pump the ball the motor starts for a few seconds then dies I have ordered a new fuel pump and carb kit carb Carb was very dirty in the bowl and a few passages clogged. Also very weak spark I put a spark checker on eack plug. where the coils mounted the surface between coil and block very corroded lookes to have a new power pack

Yes, ground happens through the bolts. Cleaning and securing grounds is always good when spark is questionable. Clean your ground connections, then use an air-gap spark tester to check spark. With the plugs out and the tester connected to a clean ground each coil should produce spark to jump a 3/8" gap. If not, your troubleshooting starts there.

yes johnson parts I put fuel pump and rebuilt carb ran good yesterday came home this afternoon and no start Im checking all grounds. I dont have one of the air sparkm checkers but will get one I have the plug tp plug wire type hardly any spark
