I have a Johnson 25 hp two stroke, model number: J25Reda from 1996.
It's not been used in about 2 years. Now comes the time when i want to use it, and i start by checking for spark. Top cylinder has no spark, bottom cylinder has good spark. I swapped the coils and still the same issue. But when i swap the orange and orange/blue wires going to each coil the top one works and the bottom doesn't. I checked inside the "boot" of the orange wires and they look pretty much the same, nothing terrible.
I checked to confirm that both coils, both spark plugs and both spark plug leads work with the solid orange wire, and none of them work with the orange/blue wire. I also checked the two grounds i could find, which was on the top coil, and on the powerpack, and both of them look alright. I can't see any visual damage to any wires.
Has anyone got any pointers for me? I feel like most of the mechanical work i can do fine, but anything with electricity i feel a bit lost, but i really want to learn.
