"If you're saying that the aluminum casting surrounding the steel cylinder sleeve is corroded away bad, I have no knowledge of that problem ever being corrected by anything other than replacing the crankcase (block).

However, if you've decided to attampt that repair, I'd suggest that you use "GRAY" Marine-Tex which should be available at your local Evinrude/Johnson dealership.

Note that I state "GRAY" as Marine-Tex also manufactures a "WHITE" substance and I've found the "GRAY" to be a much stronger substance for some reason.

The other altrnative to replacing the block is to have a reliable machine shop Heli Arc (Aluminum Weld) whatever flaw exists with the crankcase."
