"I have a 87 225 I installed a new ignition switch and now my tach does not work. I understand which posts are the Battery, Choke, but there are 2 "m" posts I am told one needs to be grounded and the other is for the magneto. Does lead that should be grounded go to the ground on the Tach? Also I have 3 solid black wires coming from the engine for the ign switch. Should these 3 all go to one "m" terminal? I understand the grey lead goes to the tach for the sender, the purple for ignition, but that is about it. Please help! Also one of the "M" terminals on my switch is raised on a post."

"The raised "M" post terminal is for the kill circuit only. The only wire you want connected there is the Black/Yellow wire.

The other regular "M" terminal of the switch should have a plain black ground wire connected to it, with the other end of this black wire connected to a known ground. The other black wires that you mention (if they're ground wires) can be connected to this terminal or any known ground."

Not sure if you got this fixed. I have the same motor with the same problem. Turned out to be a loose wire..
