Secondly, there is a vacuum switch located on the incoming fuel line that detects excessive suction in the fuel supply lines.
If there is a restriction, and the fuel pump pumps too hard to get the fuel...suction (vacuum) builds up, and triggers the vacuum switch, and then the "Check Engine" light.

You have a fuel restriction somewhere from the tank to the fuel pump.
 
Check anti siphon valve,primer bulb,all fuel lines,fuel/water separator,inline filters,fuel pump for a restriction for starters
