Just bought a 1977 6hp Johnson (pull start)
I am Trying to learn and understand the electric wiring (color code + fonction)
Can somewone take a few minutes to explain basic the wiring color code from the flyweel, to de powerpack (CDI) to the coil-spark plug and more

Thank you

Does the motor not run ?-----The wiring on them is basically " plug it in and play " unless a previous owner molested it.------I would start the trouble shooting with a compression test.----Post your numbers.

Generic diagram, should serve the purpose

A charge coil on the stator under the flywheel sends a voltage via the brown wires to charge the capacitor in the power until when it is time to produce a spark. A sensor, also under the flywheel sends a lesser voltage via the black/white wires to the power pack to tell it that it is time to produce a spark. When the power pack gets that signal, it discharges the capacitor to the proper coil, via the orange wires (CD = Capacitor Discharge). The coil increases that discharged voltage to whatever it takes to fire the spark plug. Very simple, if you understand the basics of electricity.
