Johnson 1958 35hp RDS-20 Help

I am changing out the clutch dog on a Johnson 1958 35hp RDS-20. I ordered a new dog (part number 305105). When I got the new dog it did not fit and the tabs on the dog looked larger. I counted the teeth on the new dog and it had 23, the old one had 22 teeth. Is there another year model propeller shaft that will fit all the bearings and lower unit on the 58?

To my knowledge, the propshaft from the various year 28/33/35/40 horsepower models will fit but I just checked and they all use the 305105 clutch shifter dog.

The older (1954/55 25hp... in that area) has a propshaft that might interchage which took a different clutch shifter dog part number 375783. As I remember it was rather bulky in appearance compared with the 305105.

I'd suggest taking your damaged shifter dog into a dealership and comparing it with others.
