Johnson 15hp Stop Button

I have an "83" Johnson

I have an "83" Johnson 15hp. The kill button didnt work. I tested it out with an ohm meter and tested bad. I replaced the button with a new OMC stop button and still wont kill the motor? Where else can I turn to find the problem? I noticed the kill switch wire goes to ground and the other traces into the CD module. Could it be in there? The plug pins seem clean and tight.Im lost with this one. Thank you.

"Check with ohm meter. Kill circuit is:

Black wire from powerhead ground to powerpack. Black or Black/Yellow wire from powerpack to kill switch. Black wire from kill switch to powerhead ground.

If all connections/continuity checks out, the problem would be within the pack.
