I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 150 JOHNS

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 150 JOHNSON GT 86 MODEL HAD IT ON THE LAKE 6 TIMES RUNS AND IDLES GOOD I HAD A COMPRESSOIN TEST ON IT 90LBS 80LBS 80LBS LEFT 80LBS 80LBS 50LBS RIGHT I WAS TOLD IT IS GETTING READY TO BLOW WITH THE ONE BAD CYLINDER AS THIS IS MY FIRST BOAT I WOULD THANK ALL THE ADVICE I COULD GET SHOULD I REBIULD IT OR RUN IT AND RISK DAMAGE TO THE POWERHEAD I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE A STUPID QUESTOIN BUT WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK THANKS

"Eric.... You have a 40 psi compression difference between the lowest and the highest reading which spells trouble.

Do not run the engine!

At a minumum, remove both cylinder heads so that you can inspect the sealing surfaces, the undersides of the cyl heads, the pistons, and the cylinder walls.

Hopefully you simply have a head gasket failing, but if a overhaul is needed, this is the time to do it.... not after a connecting rod blows through the crankcase.

Eric...Joe is spot on. I wouldn t run that engine until repaired. If you keep running it you could cause terminal damage to it. Then its only worth .35 a pound.
