Johnson 150 Fast Strike...Crank Case Cover

Hey guys i really need some help. I have a bullet with a Johnson 150 Fast strike on it and i have a huge bass tournament coming up. It's been acting weird so i investigated last night and come to find out i have a crack in the crank case cover that bolts to the block and holds the crankshaft and main bearings in place. I need to find a new one or a used one that is in good shape. If you have any pointers of places to call or people to call please let me know. I qualified for the Southern Regional Bass Federation Nation tournament at Lake Okeechobee at the end of the month and i was hoping to leave on the 23 to do some practicing, so i need to find the part as quickly as possible so i can start tearing into this motor

That part is not really replaceable by itself !----------That and the main block are line bored as an assembly for a precision fit to clamp up the bearings.-------------Any idea why that the part is cracked ??.-----------You have to take the block off the exhaust housing in order to investigate.----I do not think this is going to be a 10 minute fix.---------You may find that there is lots of damage inside when you take it apart.

We are fixing to dive into this thing i have been having this same luck and it looks like around 2500 for a new powerhead. Thinking of just going with a used 225 and hope for the best. Thank you for your time.

That's actually a misnomer, the blocks were sand caste(lost foam), the covers die casted, they don't have any relation to the actual block as far as an exact mate. Why it cracked would be me biggest concern, over torqued on bolts? Did something come lose? 10 minute fix no! But shouldn't that big of deal...Wonder if you could weld the cover???

We took it apart and it is a pretty good crack. We had another block and had taken this crank cover off and used it and I'm thinking that is why it cracked, because it wasn't the same cover. Everything inside looks fine. Does anyone know of some boat junkyards? I wish I could fine someone with a blown block and try there cover on my motor. The original cover for this block has grooves where someone had put the wrong lower unit, and just shoved the crankshaft and bearings into each other. What are the chances of smoothing out the the grooves and using it.

Unless the crank path machining is different for the eagle blocks with no intake on the cover, the front half should be interchangable with others.

Its very common for performance enthusiasts to combine blocks with better porting with front halves that flow better (ficht etc) even though they are several model years apart. Most of this is done on the 90 deg loopers though. I've not heard any issues as a result of running mismatched front halves. As I said, eagle could be different since its just a cover.
