Question - I have an oil leak

Question - I have an oil leak on the lower head of my 1985 Johnson 140. The leak is coming out of the small "pin hole" just in front of the inlet screen for the water pump. There is no evidence of water in the lube oil. Is this a sign of a leaking seal or a crack in the gear casing?

"Tom.... If that leakage isn't the identical color of the gearcase lube, in all probability it is the excess fuel/oil mixture draining down through the exhaust housing (the hsg between the PH and the LU).

Thanks, the oil leak appears to be lube oil, not two cycle oil.
