"I have a 1998 johnson 130 that is misfiring at the lower port side cylinder at idle to about 3000 rpm.
What I have done....
Drained fuel tank/new fuel
New water seperator filter/fuel filter,and fuel line
New plugs/wires
rotated plugs,wires,coils and still misses at same cylinder
Installed new power pack
Pulled carbs and checked for debris,they were very clean
Disabled VRO and ran mixed fuel from another tank
Observations....
If you put a screwdriver in the plug wire and put it to the spark plug, a spark can be seen, but there is no noticeable change in the way the engine runs for lower port cyl.
At night sparks can be seen jumping from the rubber boot on the plug wire across the ceramic part of the plug to the nut part of the plug.
Engine runs good from just above half throttle and up
Tachometer was reading eratic for about 3 weeks before this happened
Compression in Missing cylinder is 120, all others is 130
Oil and fuel blow out of the prop and drip down lower unit. I assume this is just unburned stuff from the missing cylinder.
Any info on what to check from here is greatly appreciated. Thanks
