"I have owned a 1993 Johnson 1
"I have owned a 1993 Johnson 115 for about 7 years. It has always been difficult to start the first time on a day when I take it out. Subsequent starts during the day have never been a problem. Recently, I noticed that as I moved the throttle control to the start detente position, there was absolutely no movement of the throttle linkage in the engine up to that point. Shouldn't the carb butterflies be open just a bit when starting as opposed to being closed entirely? Assuming so, I adjusted the linkage so that it moves slightly as the throttle lever is placed in the start position. I have yet to test the engine from a cold first start since making the adjustment as I have not had a chance to get the boat out again.
I have a Clymer publications shop manual for this engine, but its illustrations are muddy photos and poor descriptions. Can anyone tell me where I could find good throttle linkage documentation and diagrams, either on the web or in printed manuals?
Thanks for all responses."
