I am looking at buying a boat

I am looking at buying a boat with this engine on it and there is a problem with it. It runs well until it gets hot and then won't run. The owner took it to a marine shop and they told him the pistion is heating and expanding in the cylinder. Its not seized but needs repairs. The boat is a 85 tempest in good shape and he wants 900 for boat and trailer. Is it worth it and what could the problem be? Why would the pistion heat up and expand and what would it take to repair?

Thanks for any help

"Hey Ken...The very firt thing

"Hey Ken...The very firt thing to do is make sure that the engine has good compression..! The readings in the cylinders should be around 90-100#, with no more then 10% difference between the high and the low reading...Post back when you get this done......Tom"
