yep has been a few weeks maybe a month ,,
thanks for the help,, the johnson decided to
get noisy up in the top end one day and i shut her down,,, and found it to be locked up,,,,
just gotta laugh,,,, will not pull over, did for a brief time and the locked up again when just pulling over motor,,
have torn it down to the main block now,,,
first pulled head and found metal frag ments
in top cylinder head only..would guess a ring has
let go ,,,but cant seem to visually see any broken rings ,with out removing them from cylinders,,, this in cludes all ,,fuel pump covers and etc,,,cylinders have no scaring
at least from the t.d. c. side of them,,, thinking
maybe rod caps on crank journal score,,, maybe a rod clip,,,is a what i call a short block availiable for this motor? a 25rl72r,johnson,,, i know the fly wheel is al ready n.l.a. what else is also n.l.a.??
water pump still availiable ?i might as well do the water pump
if im gonna go this far and have it at this stage of tear down,,,i can get the rings and complete gasket set but im concerned that other parts i might need are n.l.a,,,,, got info,????

should would like to just short block it,,,

well the tear down

well the tear down revieled that the top cylinder
rod cap bolt( to the journal of the crank) just one has backed out,,,go figure,, gouging the (carb side) bottomt of the cran kase cover,,,also dug a little on the block,,,, the rod cap bearing
is gone and had a rough but brief ride,,,,the bolt that backed out of the rod cap had some rounding to it also, lets hear the failure to this one,,,,lol,,,,,, gotta have guts,,,,,,come on,,,,,joe,,lol,,,,,,any ways the motor is now parts has a goog lower unit and etc,,,,rod is n.l.a. as well ,and have heard that there is no
what i call short block available,has been n.l.a.
since 1995,,,didnt even go any further to see
how bad the journal on the crank was,,,
joe again you are a winner ,,for your time
and expeirience it is priceless,
god will shine on you some day,,
