J15RCCS pull cord eyelet replacement

The original eyelet has a notch in it. I don't know if there is supposed to be a notch. I did order a new one.
Any suggestions on how to take out old one and install new one?
 
I had a suggestion on a different forum about how to remove the eyelet and I think it will work. Do I just tap the new eyelet in?
