"When I winterized my '85
"When I winterized my '85 SeaRay back in Nov. 1998 before putting it up for the winter, I topped off the 70 Gal gas tank. Little did I know that circumstances would keep me from using the boat till this past spring.
Well, it sat dormant in my driveway for all of 8 years. Took lots of cleaning and a couple of thousand $$ to bring it and the trailer back to life. I didn't want to go out on the Tennessee River and get stranded by "bad gas", so I transferred it, 20 Gal at a time into my Suburban. I was not totally surprised that more than 20 gallons of gas had evaporated.
With gas prices up, I was not about to throw it away.
Well, I used it all back in December and had absolutely no problems. The Suburban never as much as hick-uped with the old gas and is still just fine. I even used it in my lawn mower without incident.
I will never again believe that gas goes bad!!!
