Issues with Chrysler Crusader Engines

A few on-going issues....

First, a stalling issue. It seems like after a run at a high RPM, coming back in to the slip the port engine stalls every time when trying to move around at a low RPM. If you are in low RPM (1000 or so) and put the engine in gear (forward or reverse), it stalls after a short amount of time, every time. Again, it seems to only do this after running the boat in gear at a high RPM. Again, this issue is only on the port side, and only after running the boat at a high RPM. But does it on a consistant basis.

Second, since I had new fuel lines have been installed, whenever I feed the engines from the port side fuel tank, both engines behave poorly while underway. They both struggled to get to 3000 RPM while in gear, sputter, and the RPM's fluctuate on their own, between 2500-3200 RPM. When I got back to my home port, both engines died, and I couldn't restart. As soon as I switched back to the starboard tank, they ran fine (except the port engine problem above). I fueled both tanks at the same time, so I doubt a fuel issue. Both engines behaved the same way with this issue.

1. I suspect your distributor advance is sticking. Someone set the idle speed when it was stuck part way open, so when it comes all the way back the idle is too low and it stalls. Pull the cap and work the rotor back and forth with your fingers. It should snap right back. If not, put a few drops of oil on the shaft below the rotor than flip it a few dozen times until it's nice and loose.

If that's NOT the problem, look for a flooding carb.

2, You have crud in that port side tank. Possible water got in from a bad seal at the filler. You'll need to dump your water separator (assuming you have one) severe; times, and change filters, before it can clear up. If it's really bad, you'll have to pump that tank out.
