I am having issues with the lower unit install, I must be doing something incorrectly. I have the lower unit in neutral, and the boat in neutral. However when I install the LU, the LU ends up in reverse while the boat is in neutral. The Boat's forward becomes the lower unit's neutral.
At first I figured the dog clutch is sliding down into gear but wouldn't it then be forward gear instead of reverse? Is this just a simple case of the shift shaft gear turning a tooth when I insert the LU??
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated! Thank you,
