Is this oil pan OK?

Ok....I screwed up....the engine hoist dropped too fast and the engine contacted the garage floor on the drain bolt, causing a dent in the the bottom of the pan.

No creasing of metal, only smooth distortion dented up maximum of 1/4 inch from running a straight edge along the bottom of the area. No leaks, and the drain bolt has no damage. A bit of paint chipped off the pan around the dent, but I repainted it.

I don't think I did any serious damge needing a new pan, but I would feel a lot better if you experts have a look and agree. My concern might be the oil pickup, but I can't imagine it being that low on the pan.

Most pans get a little" kiss " before getting installed. Your good to go.

Thanks...I got lots of room under the pan to drain oil...I use the wife's big flat tupperware....she hasn't noticed it is missing out of the kitchen yet...:rolleyes:

Why would you drop your oil from the drain plug? Just pump it out of the dipstick tube. The few ounces that stay behind will not make a difference.

I remove more drain hoses than I install.
