I just got back from Titusville, FL where I purchased a new Gheenoe LT-15. The owner of Custom Gheenoes threw in a center console with the steering wheel and rack and pinion cable as lagniappe. I would love to make use of this console since it is very well crafted of teak. It looks as though it will be a little while before I can step up and purchase a 25HP outboard to push it, so I'm relying on my old faithful 1994 8HP, model E8RERE to get me up and down the Chattahoochee River to chase trout.
Is there any way to convert this motor from tiller steering to remote? The main concerns I have are related to throttle and gear shifting. I can deal with a manual start since I've never owned an electric start outboard. Besides, pulling the rope to start the motor and casting for trout are the most exercise my arm gets in the course of a week.
