1986 Mercruiser 5.7 Alpha One Quadrajet Carburator (Starboardside)

I just rebuilt this carburator and took her out twice with out a hitch. Decided to go fishing this past weekend only to have the engine quit. Engine turns over.

Finger on the carburator plunger, I plunged, I hear air. I suspect I plunged the float chamber dry. I checked the fuel screen in the inlet of the carburator, clean...I checked the fuel filter - yup there's fuel there too.

I suspect the fuel pump - any thoughts or direction, before I spend hard earn dollor chasing after the problem.

Do a pressure and flow test on the fuel pump, sounds like it's not working
