Is 167 volts too high at cruising speed

Can any one inform me if my voltage is getting too high at max i see when cruising around 35k rpms to 4500 rpms 16.7to 16.9 vlts on my 1972 65 hp johnson i am using a vented deep cycle battery with no obviouse problems so far /the reading i am using is from my fish finder trip meter, just a bit concerned dont want to burn her up ... i do see at low speed 13.2 to 14 .7 vlts"

"Iwould suggest you put a good vom on the battery first, before you condem the system, then you need to check output voltage at the regulator, I think you will find your sonar is measuring before load. Let us know how you make out.

"Check all your connections and be sure they are very clean and tight. Have your battery load tested regardless of age. You don't have a regulator on that motor so any increase in resistance will cause the voltage to go up. Look at the lugs on the cables very carefully. Any signs of corrosion at the base of them, replace it. They can corrode inside where you can't see it."

i asked the same question also worried about my fish finder.............my book states it will hold 10-20 vdc.........i just found my book---i had answered a similar thread a day or so ago and thought it only held 17-18 volts max-----------if you still have your book look it up if you are still worried, but im betting yours will hold the same.
the fish finder companies must have had this in mind when they built these."

Most of us are using larger and stronger batteries than evinrude/johnson recommends for their non regulated charging systems...i fought this several years ago and Morten explained what is really going on inside the battery when its fully charged and is still receiving a charge..i have a copy of the discussion on a computer at my camp but not this one..i still run larger batteries than recommended for my 1994 evinrude 88 but backed off from the top of the line i was using..actually i am using deep cycle for every thing now..watch you tac and if it starts cutting up then you have a problem that needs addressing..you can also turn on your running lights or something and increase load on the battery..
 
Would it be wise or possible t

Would it be wise or possible to install an electronic isolator which compares battey voltage and charge voltage and will then send the source to another load when load # 1 has reach full charge?
