" I have a 1980 johnson v4 out
" I have a 1980 johnson v4 outboard motor that needs 2 new pistons, they are both on the same side. Im not sure how it might of happend because i got the motor off a boat i bought used. Anyways one of the cyllinders has a pretty deep scratch in it and a friend that bores told me that .040 over would clean it up pretty good, but going .060 over would definatly do it.
(I plan on boring all 4 of the cyllinders and putting in 4 new pistons.)
Hes not doing the boring cause he doesnt have the right stuff for this motor but im just wondering if going .064 over is too much, and should i just do .040 over and hope it gets the majority of the scratch?
Thanks alot
