Intermittent Engine Display

I have a 2014 Honda BF 250 with the engine display. I have not been very sucessful finding any information on the display.

The display has analog RPM and digital readout for temp, oil pressure etc. Two buttons to scroll through data.

The display goes out at random times, sometimes it will not come on all other times on and off all day.

The plug on the back of the gauge seems very secure, there are several network connections throughout the system.

Does the loss of power to the gauge indicate a loose power connection , would network failure cause this?

This started a month or so after I bought the boat ( new) and has just gotten worse.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Is this the gauge that you have?

If so, it gets its power from the network. One of the "tees" on the network should have a cable going from it that goes to a fused power source. It generally will be a red and black lead, when they come out of the sheath.

In some cases, that power lead is run through a relay, which is controlled by the keyswitch.

So, you could be losing power from any of the connections at the network, relay or power connection. It could also be possible that the gauge, itself, is having an issue.

If the network is also connected to a display unit or fish finder, if the information at the display from the engine goes dark, then look to the network connections and/or network power.

Have someone watch the gauge as you wiggle connections along the network and power leads.

Thank you !

i have not fixed it but I did locate the loose connection thanks to your input.

pressing on The fuse holder which is buried in a wire harness I was able to get the gauge to go on and off.
Piece of cake from here.

Thanks again,
