intermittent electrical problem ???????????

i have a 1994 40hp johnson that will sometimes only run at half speed. i replaced the fuel pump with out the vro unit, replaced power pack,new spark plugs, is getting fuel.can anyone help????

Good compression and ignition? Some loose debris in the carb bowls. Pull the carb and take a look.

Pull one spark plug wire at a time when the prob occurs and see which cyl is dead. This will give you some place to start.

Check for bent prop. may be overrev limiter.
try running at 2/3 throttle to see if cuts back.
Had this problem one time and dealer showed me
that as I watched, only changed prop and cured the trouble.
