That's what I did to my 19' Baretta. I used three small hinges from the doghouse and two 120# lift shocks used on a van tailgate. I built a bench seat in front of the doghouse and made one side of the seat bottom a livewell and the other side a dry storage area with a 22" drop door. I covered it with the same carpet from the floor leaving a 2"X6" opening in the bottom center for water drainage and added two 4" louvered vents at floor level in the front and rear of the seat. On the bench I installed three swivel, removable fishing chairs. You could have the seat and seatback covered in a dense foam pad and vinyl.
I then measured the boat for the deck so it covers the back, sides and seat back by 2". Next I cut two (42"X72") pieces of 3/4" good exterior plywood, rounded the edges and treated them with CPES and then epoxied them and held them together from the bottom by using drywall screws to draw them tightly together; I removed the screws 2 hours later. Then I epoxied two layers of 20 oz. woven fiberglass cloth on both sides and finished the top side with a final leveling layer of epoxy. Applied carpet over the top and sides and installed it.
The height of the seat back was the same as the sides and rear of the boat. The seat should not be at 90 deg. angles but the lower front should be set at 75-80 degs. to the floor for footroom and the back of the seat should slope to the rear about 100 degs. to the floor to allow you to lean back. The seat was made of 5/8" plywood with 2"X2" top and bottom plates and on the back side I put 2"X2" studs that are 24" on center. The bottom plate is epoxied and screwed (use SS screws)to the floor and the sides are epoxied and screwed to the boat rails. I also applied a layer of 20 oz. fiberglass to it. You only need studs on the seat back from the floor up. The bench portion only needs 2"X2" boards on the inside of the front top and bottom and one under the back of the seat attched to the seatback. Cut and fit all your wood first and then treat it all with CPES."
