Interchangable Lowers for 25XD

Greetings,

I own an 84 Mercury 25XD with a need for a Lower replacement. In research, I have found an 85 Mercury 25XD
Lower and would like to know if these are interchangable Lowers.

Yes, it will work - the lower unit was identical on all the model years of the 25 (and 18) XD models.

Just make sure you replace your long or short shaft lower with the same thing or you will end up having to swap the driveshaft, shift shaft and water tube (a fair bit of work - plus all the seals and possibly some bearings in the process).

Yes, quite a bit of work to building that Lower and finding that 85 made things a little simpler, but just needed to know if they were interchangable.
