intake question

can the intake manifold off of a car engine be "safely" used on a 318LM marine engine?

Yes... There are the same cast iron units. The only difference was what type they would of used and when.
Pre- 78 4-bbl engines used a square bore single plane even though the car would've used a spread bore fitted with a Thermo-quad carb. After that they were all spread bore anyway because both used the Quadra-jet carb.
