Intake manifold gasket

In follow up to my other post, I think I'm going to change the intake manifold gaskets on my port engine. I did the Stb engine when I first got the boat because there was coolant showing when I removed one of the bolts. This one I'm going to do because of the oil leak picture I posted and I just noticed that my overflow tank is empty? Hmmm.. the H/E level if fine but I swear I thought the oil looked a little "thin" when I checked it during the season.... the color looked ok. I read another post from someone who also was losing coolant in the overflow tank and it was the intake gaskets that fixed it. So, maybe two reasons to change them out. Where should I be draining the block so I don't dump coolant into the engine like I did last time? Don't I just need to get the level below the height of the intake manifold? thnks Bob

The block drains are down on the block...between the bottom of the "freeze plugs" and the top of the oil pan rail, towards the rear of the block.

I believe there have been a few pics posted...I may have some drawings or pic to post later but can't look now.

You need to get the level below the "bottom" of the intake...that said, there will likely be some residual coolant that will "drip" when the intake is pulled...that to me is enough reason to hold off until springtime...

Thanks Mark, probably good advise. I have the parts on hand but will likely wait until spring. My second unplanned project off the off season :(
