Installing Vertical Shaft Bushing on Honda 150HP Outboard

When installing a new Vertical Shaft Bushing on Honda 150HP which end is up toward powerhead, the notched or flat ?. Had to have vertical shaft replaced and old bushing was so mangled could not tell which end was up .....

Any help ?????

BANJ 1301614 bushing is located in the intermediate housing approx. 6-8 inches above the water pump.

It dont really say just grease the inner part of the bushing push it up and install the washer and then install the cir-clip to hold it in. My guess would be to put the flat side of the bushing down toward the gearbox the install the washer and clip?

Did you get a new washer and cir-clip?
