Anybody could give me a diagram of one of these starter? There is so many cable im not sure.. trying ti put a pic but diesnt seem to work

Are you replacing an existing starter ? Or add one to a manual? Please engine year info so we can find a schematic...

I just got the engine and the starter was unplug the dude remive it to get it rebuilt but now its time to get it back in there.. its a 90 mariner 40hp magnum

OK I'll try this blind - so try this at your own risk! LARGEST bolt terminal goes to the LARGE wire RED that goes to the Starter solenoid. The Starter itself may ground itself to the block but may have a large black wire that attaches to the starter frame and or the motor main block. Does this make any sense??? How may waires do you have loose??

That's a nice heavy wire in your hand in the pic. I would think it is either the + or - coming from the boat (battery) into the engine? Can you trace that wire back to see where the other end is located/attached to what? You need to find out if it's the pos or neg from the battery if so. Can you use a multi meter to check / trace?
