Hi hoping someone can help. Just spent 4 hrs trying to install lower unit after impeller replacement.
The trouble we are having is getting the gear shaft to line up. We have tried having both in forward, neutral, & reverse. We can get the drive shaft into the crank pretty easy but when we got to install the shift shaft into place it won’t go unless you switch the throttle control into another gear. Ex forward to reverse. Then once it is in it won’t shift from neutral to reverse.
What am I doing wrong? Once the drive shaft is in place how do I get the shift shaft splines to line up? Any tips & tricks would be appreciated. Thanks
