Installing iginition coils - quick question

I just got sierra replacement ignition coils for my force outboard. In the pack came a small round cylinder looks like it is made of carbon. What am i to do with this cylinder? The coil hole itself appears to have a small cylinder piece like the extra one in it already?

Also, is using rtv caulk on the coil required?

Sierra coils are designed to fit a variety of different models, so not all pieces are necessarily needed for your motor. Simply configure them the same way as the coils you removed (covers or no cover, insulators etc - some coils will have a dedicated ground, some will ground through the mounting bolt etc).

Not sure what you would use the RTV caulk for?
