installing exhaust hose onto elbow tips?

I replaced my 318 Chrysler in a 24 ft lyman and am having a heck of a time trying to get the flexible exhaust hose back on the elbow. The hose is not very flexible but it has to bend very close to the elbow. I can't seem to get any leverage to muscle it on. I put dish soap in the hose. Any other tips that may help?

Use a heat gun or very carefully a torch warm up the hose it will work better (still not easy to do).

Yes, A good heat gun has proved invaluable for helping in what seems an impossible feat.

Next time buy a new hose that's a bit larger in diameter--about an 1/8 inch. (They are sold that way.) Much easier to get back on, doesn't leak, and you can et it off again if needed.
