"I have a 1985 Merc 115HP inline-6 on which the pee-hole is working fine at idle and mid-range planing speeds, but at high speed it slows to a trickle and stops completely after about 30 seconds or so. The motor overheated and stopped once because of this (I think) but fortunately nothing seems to have seized up. I ran it today to test it out (I was watching the pee-hole like a hawk) and noticed this problem in time to throttle down. The stream returned immediately and things cooled down within minutes. Is this a common thing for a dying water pump to do? I don't believe I have a thermostat so I've ruled that out in favor of the water pump.
Thanks in advance for any help."
