Info on 5hp mercury

I HAVE A 5 HP MERCURY NOT SURE OF THE YEAR SER. NUMBER A853985 MAN 37-13020 I NEED THE YEAR AND A MANUAL THANK YOU

1989 model.

Believe this was built by Tohatsu for Merc (no actual Merc components save the paint color and decals) - began production with the 1988 model year.

Because of this the typical Seloc's manual for 1 and 2 cylinder Merc's did not cover this model. Likewise, my "complete set" of service manuals from Merc did not include the single cylinder models obtained from Tohatsu.

Tohatsu used to provide free downloads of their manuals on their website under the support drop down. Haven't checked their site for a while so don't know if they still do or not.

Alternately, contact a Merc certified dealer and enquire there...
