"Hi all, just wanted to run this by you guys. I installed a new Pertronix ignition, which by the way is so easy I can't hardly believe it. When I went to time the engine, I had to remove one of the engine support thingy so I could see all the timing scale. I noticed the Bold line and a "0" indicating TDC. And up to the left of it is another bold line with an "A" marking it. what does the A stand for. I presume each graduation is 2 deg. The A is 10 deg. away. The manual I have said 6 deg. BDTC, which is what I set it at. Every thing sound right to you guys? I was some where off the scale at about 16-18 deg. after putting the new ignition in.

Thanks for the help

Eric"

"The difference in timing afte

"The difference in timing after installing the electronic conversion is normal.

The scale should have points that stick out more than others. every other one. point to point for the longer or point to point to short ones represents 4 degrees.

So the difference between a long tooth and a short one is 2 degrees

Hope this helps."

"ATDC is After Top Dead Center

"ATDC is After Top Dead Center, BTDC is Before Top Dead Center, 6 BTDC is correct, Set the timing then check your idle and idle mixture, with the engine warm in the water and in gear..

I love mine."

"The picture that Brian Bracke

"The picture that Brian Brackett sent is the Bomb. It indicates that mine is set correctly. Mine does not have the "V" notchs in it, but other wise is the same and the values that I placed on mine are the same as the values on the picture. I like pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!! And better yet with details!!!!!! It is still a mystery to me why there is a "A" at the 10deg. BTDC mark. But it is a mystery that does not need to be solved.

Thanks again,

Eric"
