Impeller

1974 40hp Evinrude .Bought and installed the new impeller kit . Cleaned out and used compressed air to clean any old parts . Installed new impeller kit and put lower end in water . Started engine , no water pumping thru engine . Remove the head and blowed air in all areas I found . Put back together again no water pumping the the engine . I have not put boat in the lake as of yet . I am very confused . I am not impressed with the new style impeller kit .

How deep do you have it in the water? Water pump should be submerged before starting engine.

Agreed----Water should be higher than the pump when in the bucket.

Take the boat to the lake and see what happens.

We normally insist you replace entire pump,not just the impeller.
