Just changed the impeller on my 25 horse evinrude and when I took the lower lag off I notice the copper tube come out withe the assembly. So after I installed new impeller and went to put the lower lag back on , that tube just seems to go up into know where .... Is that normal?

No the tube should stay in place.------------It now has to be put in place before installing the lower unit.-------------------Was there a severe overheat on the engine ?

It was in place on the lower unit , it was coming out of the impeller housing and everything looks fine . So when installing the lag back in ,the tube just went into a big hole . I thought it might have to attach or go into something at the top as it's going in .after its pushed up all the way and bolted on , I'm not sure where the end of the tube is connected to or pushed against at the top .

I just got the engine so not sure of an overheat. Are you saying the copper tube should've stayed on the top half when taking the lower unit off

The copper tube is the water feed from the impeller to the engine, some engines have the tube connected to the top and you have to manoeuvre the tube into a rubber bush above the impeller when replacing the leg. Other engines the tube is secured to the impeller and when you slide the leg on, the tube locates itself into a housing at the top. This is quite normal and providing that water comes out your "PE PE" outlet shows that the tube went into the internal housing properly. if no water comes out then the leg will have to be removed again and with a torch inspect the housing where the tube supposed to slide into.. Hope this helps.. Eric

Thanks Eric . I'll try it out in the water today . Also does anyone know where the throttle cam goes ? It was sitting in the bottom of the engine compartment. And kind seem to find where it goes . It's a little plastic piece with two screws .

This shows how the throttle cam fits on the plate. You may be Ok with the water tube but it will help if you put a coat of permatex around the top of the tube and let it set up fo a few hours then install it into the exhaust tube grommet that way you know you have a good seal it should fit nice and snug into the upper grommet. Just dont get any permatex in the inside of the tube.
