Impeller plate differences

So I'm replacing the water pump and noticed that the old impeller plate has a hole drilled above the driveshaft hole and a larger water intake port than the new omc replacement. Should I stick with the old or go with the new?

What motor do you have ?????----------------I usually only install new impellers as the plates rarely wear in clean fresh water.-----------Go with the old if it is in good shape.

93 Johnson 70 HP J70TLETS. Talked with the local boat mechanic he says it shouldn't matter he's banking on less volume more pressure more flow.
