"Hi Ya'll. I'm a new owner of a used boat, a new member to marineengine. Looking for a little help changing out an impeller, on a '89 70hp motor, Model# TE70TLCE. I'm able to lower the lower unit, but the shift rod will not allow it to go any lower. Thanks"

"actually,..on yours,u should be able to pull the large hairpin,...on starboard side,...then,push that big rod to port side,..releasing shift rod...the non-vro models,..had a bolt on conn."

"re-inst lower unit,make sure u r still in N,carefully slide lg rod towards u,to re-engage the conn,...re-insert hairpin...get ice chest loaded w/cold beer,..go fishing..."
