impeller installation ?

what is the best way to put the impeller into the water pump housing? i tried just doing it with my hands and its was to hard to do.

You do not put the impeller in the housing !!--------Install the impeller on the shaft, then verify that the key is driving it.--------Lower the housing onto the impeller and while rotating the driveshaft ( the way the motor turns it ) and gently push down on the housing.-----Then you will say " that was easy "

cool thanks for the info. as for the shift cables what is the best way to make sure they dont get damaged when i remove lower unit and reinstall it

Lubricate the cable and be gentle with it.---Not cheap to replace.

would i be able to tie some braided fishing line to it to use to pull back up or is there a way to do something to the wires to make them stronger as a precaution.
